Gradescope, newly licensed for all LSA courses to use, has become popular with many instructors for online grading of tests and exams. It can also, however, be used to return hand-graded papers! With Box’s final retirement approaching in December, the ExamScan service has needed to find a new route for returning graded tests and papers to students. Gradescope allows the instructor or department administrator to send graded paper tests to Shared Services for scanning to PDF, and upload the PDF to Gradescope. Gradescope uses mature and well-developed optical recognition technology to split the upload into individual files and match each one with the student who authored it.
