Technology Services InPerson: Meet Erich Suddendorf

Meet Erich Suddendorf, Supervisor of Instructional Computing for LSA Technology Services.
by Alyssa Longo, Administrative Assistant

Q: You’ve been working for LSA for 5 years. What experience did you have prior to becoming the Supervisor of the Instructional Computing Team?

A: I started my journey with the LSA Customer Experience Team back in 2016 as a Desktop Support Specialist Intermediate. In 2017, I joined the Instructional Computing team as a Desktop Support Specialist Senior. At the end of 2019, I became the Interim Supervisor for the Instructional Computing Team, and I just became the permanent Supervisor in August 2021.

Q: Tell me a little bit about what your team does.

A: The greatest part of being on this team is that we get to do a lot of different things. Our primary work is taking care of instructional spaces. This includes classrooms, conference rooms, loan equipment, and wireless video devices. We also get to work closely across teams within LSA Technology Services. For example, helping our Infrastructure Team test policies and software packages or test and configure network ports.

Q: Do you have any professional goals for this upcoming year for you and your team?

A: I would like to increase our automation even more so we can continue to keep our computers running smoothly. I would also like to evaluate more potential spaces to see if they would work with our support model and offer our support.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your team?

A: I am so lucky to be able to supervise such amazing people. I love that no matter what comes up everyone is willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done all the while have fun doing it.

Q: Tell us a little bit about your life outside of the office. What do you like to do for fun?

A: Outside of work I like to hang out with my two kids. Juliette, who is six, and Xavier, who is four. Besides that, I like to play video games and take care of my fish tank.

Q: What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?

A: I have a 215 gallon saltwater fish tank with corals and fish.
