LSA Technology Services Supports the Annual National Training Institute (NTI) Event

U-M hosts NTI, an annual training event run by the Electrical Training Alliance, and LSA Technology Services provides the classroom technology and technical support to ensure the event runs smoothly.

From July 30 through August 5, U-M will host the National Training Institute (NTI), a week-long training event that offers educational and training opportunities for those in the Electrical Industry. Attendees can learn new skills and enhance old ones, network with peers, meet with vendors and suppliers, and hear from experts in the field. This event brings in 1,000-1,500 participants from all over the United States to our LSA classrooms.

This will be the 31st annual NTI event. The event spans across several LSA buildings, including the brand new Central Campus Classroom Building, and even uses some space in the Ross School of Business. Since the presentations and discussions take place in LSA classrooms, LSA Technology Services plays a big role in providing technical support to ensure the event runs smoothly.

Because of NTI’s size, and the need to coordinate the event while classes are taking place, several teams within LSA Technology Services work together to make sure all participants and presenters have an exceptional experience while on campus. The wide range of support includes: ensuring wifi connectivity, setting up LSA classrooms with the correct equipment, working with NTI presenters on their specific and special technical needs, providing any additional equipment such as power strips, and, most importantly, providing hands-on support throughout the entire event. Concierge stations are set up near classrooms during the event so that questions and issues can be resolved quickly. There needs to be a lot of coordination and teamwork, but LSA Technology Services is prepared and experienced. The teams are excited to have NTI return to U-M and are looking forward to supporting the event.
