With being short staffed through the fall and winter semesters and people occasionally needing to be out for personal reasons these commitments were often difficult to keep. And yet the team met all their commitments through excellent communication and strong support of one another.” -- Nominated by Jean Arnold
Video Conferencing Team
Todd Austin, Rob Feeley, Scott Montri, Chris Taylor
The Video Conferencing Team supports our strategic goal to enhance existing services and demonstrates our organizational value of “Stronger Together.”
“Video conferencing requests have grown exponentially without any changes in staffing levels. The team has done remarkably to ensure that all events have been well staffed at the appropriate level while simultaneously supporting other responsibilities within Special Events. Each event is very time sensitive and requires varying degrees of prep before the event itself. Additionally, may of these requests are coming in at the last minute requiring a domino of staffing shifts in order to get the event staffed.” -- Nominated by Jean Arnold
Nancy Herlocher
Nancy supports our strategic goal of increasing staff opportunities to support development and advancement. She also demonstrates our organizational value of “Seek to Understand and be Understood.”
“Nancy is a wonderful mentor. She listens patiently, seeks to understand the root of any given problem, and gives freely of her time and energy to help talk through problems. The way Nancy helps others is by supporting and listening. This allows those she helps to come to things on their own, enhancing their growth and development. Nancy learns what is important to others and supports through that process, offering true help and suggestions when needed. Nancy is a valuable team member and someone that I am very thankful to have as a colleague. I know that Nancy has my back.” -- Nominated by Crinn Fairbanks
Adam Gerard
Adam supports our strategic goal of enhancing existing services and demonstrates our organizational value of “Stronger Together.”
“Adam worked with Kaltura, ITS, and George Mason University’s Omeka Development Team on getting MiVideo to stream from within Omeka S. This will save scholars money because they won’t have to pay for extra research storage, and it will provide higher quality streaming of video on Omeka S instances. This critical advancement will allow for rich video content that will enable three new Digital Scholarship projects to move forward with new features for their projects. It should be noted that this was a very difficult issue to crack and one that other institutes have attempted and failed.” -- Nominated by Joe Bauer
Mike Messina
Mike supports our strategic goal to provide faculty and staff easier access to services and demonstrates our organizational value of “Stronger Together.”
“Mike initiated a process for visiting faculty throughout LSA who are affected by the migration to the new Great Lakes HPC Cluster to discuss the transition, their training needs, and provide them an information handout. Mike worked with his team to canvas the areas of the college that are most heavily hit by the migration. As part of working stronger together, Mike and his team pulled in the regional desktop support folks that the researches are used to working with to accompany them—helping our team by getting better information about each researcher from the desktop team member that knows them best, helping the desktop support team by spending time with them to talk about the migration and how it will impact the researchers they support, and helping the researchers by giving them a friendly face to talk to and let them know there is a bigger team behind the support they are receiving. This was Mike’s initiative and shows real leadership and teamwork.” -- Nominated by Luke Tracy
Crystal Cole
Crystal supports our strategic goal to provide faculty and staff easier access to services and demonstrates our organizational value of “Learn What is Important to Others.”
“Crystal helped me at a moment’s notice with two back-to-back technical presentations in live classrooms with minimal preparation with a smile on her face! Her flexibility, grace under pressure, and technical skill makes her a wonderful asset to BlueCorp, LTC, and LSA Technology Services.” -- Nominated by Elizabeth Fomin

And he has received so many outstanding customer feedback surveys, some of which included really tough requests.” -- Nominated by Mike Douglas
