LSA instructors who want to assign in-class exams through Canvas now have a way to secure the testing environment. LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Canvas by disabling the ability to print, copy, visit other websites, access other applications, or close a quiz until it is submitted for grading. If you add LockDown Browser to your Canvas course and require it for your quizzes, students will need to download the University of Michigan LockDown Browser. Quizzes created for use with LockDown Browser cannot be accessed with standard browsers like Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. However, LockDown Browser works much like those standard browsers, but with some modifications that allow for secure testing. Visit our LockDown Browser page for more information.
If you have questions or would like to add LockDown Browser to a Canvas course site, contact LSA Technology Services at [email protected] or 734.615.0099.
