It's a Ten! LSA Technology Services Assists with Move to Windows 10

LSA Technology Services will assist with your move to Windows 10 to safeguard your work.
by Melissa Pellone, Josh Tishhouse & Nancy Herlocher, LSA IT

On January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer offer support for Windows 7. This means that after that date, Windows 7 machines will not receive security updates, which could cause a disruption to your work if your machine becomes compromised. In order to keep your machine secure and safeguard your work, we are in the process of upgrading these computers to Windows 10.

LSA Technology Services has begun reaching out to individuals with more information about this process and to schedule a convenient time for the move to Windows 10. As January 2020 is coming up quickly, you can help by scheduling an appointment when you are contacted. If your computers have specialized software or hardware, they may, in rare cases, require unique provisions—such as limiting network access to stay on Windows 7—or they may require extra consideration in order to update to Windows 10. Please email lsait@umich.edu if you have a situation that could require this assistance. For example, some lab equipment software requires a specific operating system and may need exploration with you and the vendor to find the best path to Windows 10.

We are here to help and have prepared Knowledge Base Articles about Windows 10 to assist you in making the transition. We also have informational handouts and walk up support at our various locations. Below is the current look of Windows 7 on the left and the new look of Windows 10 on the right.
