Students will need to use Duo to access tools like Box, Google, Canvas and other websites that prompt for uniqname and password (Weblogin). This may affect how faculty and staff interact with students as we all start using Duo as a regular part of our access to campus systems.
What happens if students don't enroll by January 29, 2020?
They will not be able to log in until they enroll in a Duo two-factor option or get a temporary bypass code from the ITS Service Center. If they haven’t enrolled as of January 29, 2020, the login screen will prompt them to either enroll in Duo or cancel their login.
What if students have an exam that requires them to log in to a web-based interface, but they can’t bring their smartphone into class?
ITS is encouraging students to check with their instructor before the exam to determine how they would like to address this matter for their particular class and type of exam. Alternatives to using a smartphone:
- Hardware Tokens, which are available at ITS Showcase locations for no cost.
- Texted Codes via the Duo Mobile app. Will use the Duo app before the exam to send themselves a text message containing 10 passcodes. They can then write them down to take into class. Text message passcodes will work when used within 30 days.
General help for all Duo users:
What if I forget my two-factor device?
The ITS Service Center can provide a temporary bypass code via phone call that will last 12 hours.
Where can I get a Duo hardware token?
Hardware tokens are available at no cost and can be picked up from either of the ITS Showcase locations in the Shapiro Library or Pierpont Commons.
