What is Happening? 

• The BlueJeans integration in Canvas is no longer available since January 12, 2021.
• Recordings or videos stored inside of BlueJeans will no longer be available after April 30, 2021. 
• The university will retire BlueJeans effective May 1, 2021. This date coincides with the end of winter term and the current BlueJeans contract period. 

In order to fully support you with this change, U-M ITS and LSA Technology Services will be offering Trainings, Workshops and one-on-one assistance to guide you through alternative videoconferencing options to make this transition as smooth as possible. To get started today moving to the Zoom integration in Canvas, check out this checklist from ITS and refer to our visual guide for additional assistance. 

Note: If you are currently using BlueJeans for research, please submit a ticket here to start a transition plan.

All recordings (Meetings and Events) need to be downloaded from your BlueJeans account within 180 days of the recording or by April 30, 2021, whichever is earlier. After that date, you will no longer have access to them. For instructions, go to the How to Download and Share Recordings BlueJeans support page for Meetings and Events: View and Share Recordings for Events.  You can then upload recordings to Google Drive, Dropbox, or another appropriate university storage location.

• Zoom Training Webinars available and hosted by ITS, check this list for dates and information.  Please stay tuned, as this list may be updated with additional training offerings. Additionally, there are self-help Zoom training videos previously recorded, which you may view at your convenience. 

LSA Technology Services

• One-on-one consultations for how to make the best use of Zoom in your teaching are available from the LSA Technology Services Learning and Teaching Consultants. If you are interested in this option, please request a consultation using this webform.
  

LSA Language Resource Center (LRC)

• LRC Workshop: Transitioning From Bluejeans to Zoom: for access to this workshop, please email lrc.contact@umich.edu, this course is available for instructors in Language and Culture courses who normally work with LRC.

Zoom: Get started with Zoom!

• Most comparable replacement service for BlueJeans. 
  
  
• Best option for teaching remotely and recording.
  
  
• New: Zoom is now HIPAA-Compliant
  
  
• Able to host up to 300 people in Meetings, more by special request. 
  
  

• For public or larger events, access to Zoom Webinars can be requested.

• Zoom integration in Canvas: The BlueJeans and Zoom integrations in Canvas are very similar, so switching to Zoom for this application should be relatively straightforward.

• Zoom Extension in Google Chrome integrates within Google Calendar
  
  
• Zoom for Dropbox Integration: Protect your recordings with the Zoom for Dropbox integration. Zoom deletes cloud recordings after 180 days. You can enable the ability to automatically save a copy of Zoom cloud recordings and transcripts to Dropbox. If you have previous Zoom recordings you want to save before Zoom deletes them, navigate to your Zoom account at umich.zoom.us, click recordings in the left column, then click the "More" dropdown to the right side of each listed recording and select Download. Save the recording to wherever is convenient.   

Google Meet: Get started with Google Meet!

• Good for quick meetings with smaller groups of people who are using the Google Suite. 

• Easy to use, access is within the browser with no need to download an application.

• Already integrated with Google Calendar.
