The Department of Statistics would like to congratulate Professors Moulinath Banerjee and Ya’acov Ritov who were recently awarded a MIDAS grant to support their COVID-19 research. Their research proposal is titled “Markovian And Non-Markovian (Discrete) Spatio-Temporal Processes with Active Decision Making Strategies For Addressing the COVID-19 Pandemic.” We are very proud of them for their contributions as U-M continues important research efforts in fighting the current pandemic.

Professor’s Banerjee and Ritov’s proposal was one of seven selected from 49 submissions that apply data science in varied and creative ways to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Furthermore, their proposal highlights the resolve and expertise of U-M researchers and the Department of Statistics in facing a public health crisis.
