UM Graduate Student Zakiya Luna has received a 2011-2012 Mellon Foundation Sawyer Seminar Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  This year's Seminar theme is "Globalization and the New Politics of Women's Rights.  This Madison seminar is one of the 10 the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation funded internationally.  Zakiya will be affiliated with the Department of Gender and Women's Studies and Sociology.

In 2012-2013, Luna will hold a President's Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley.  During her tenure in this prestigious program, her mentors will be Kristin Luker (Professor of Jurisprudence Social Policy and Sociology) and Charis Thompson (Professor of Gender & Women's Studies and Co-director of the Science, Technology and Society Center).
