Michela Musto received the 2010 Eita Krom Prize for her paper Please keep the queers off the court and let the pretty girls play: The Consequences of Crossing the Gender Normal Divide in Women’s Athletics.  Michela is beginning Ph.D. studies in Sociology at the University of Southern California this fall.

The Eita Krom Prize is named for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barney Krom from Iron River, Michigan, who earned a B.A. in sociology at the University of Michigan in May 1923. On August 17, 1923, she and three of her friends were involved in a fatal auto-train collision. Her family endowed the Prize in Eita’s memory. It is awarded annually for the best paper on a sociological topic written by an LSA junior or senior.
