Learn More About Supporting the SLC

Science Learning Center

SCIENCE LEARNING CENTER STRATEGIC FUND-315827

Your gift provides us with the opportunity to create positive interventions for students who need additional academic resources and a sense of community and connection during this isolating period. All of our programs focus on developing more independent learners capable of utilizing multiple learning strategies and embracing short-term challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Your support can make such a difference in the life of a student striving to make the next breakthrough as a biologist, chemist, physicist, physician, or other STEM career. Help us revolutionize student learning and create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive generation of scientific innovators.

For over three decades, the Science Learning Center (SLC) has provided academic support to thousands of Michigan students enrolled in the University's most challenging STEM courses. Through Peer-Led Study Groups that support over 6,000 students per year and drop-in and appointment-based tutoring that provides more individualized academic guidance, the SLC ensures that students actively engage with their coursework and use research-based learning strategies to develop their own personal toolkit for success. You can help us in our effort to support more Michigan students succeeding in STEM for another 30 years.

Your donation provides direct support to students by allowing us to offer more study groups, tutoring sessions, workshops, and other existing resources. You can also help us to expand our academic support in more innovative ways using cutting edge technology and creating academic coaching and mentoring programs, and transforming our physical spaces so they are welcoming, inclusive, and supportive for all students. STEM courses at Michigan are incredibly challenging and too often students who struggle in introductory courses abandon their plans to pursue a STEM major.
