On Thursday, February 15, 2018, first-, second-, and third-year Russian students learned about Russian culture and traditions at the Maslenitsa celebration. Students at all levels enjoyed traditional Russian food, including Russian candy and bliny made by lecturer Eugene Bondarenko's babushka. There was also a matryoshka decorating contest (see results here). Nina Shkolnik's third-year students did a presentation on the origins and specific traditions of Maslentisa (video). Alina Makin's second-year intensive students from the Residential College performed a puppet show, "Teremok" (video). Elena Fort's first-year students demonstrated Russian games (video).
