Semester in Detroit kicked off our spring/summer 2021 program with an online orientation on Monday, May 3rd, followed by online classes beginning May 4th. While all of our classes are online for the duration of this semester, students moved into apartments at the College for Creative Studies on May 23rd. The excitement on move-in day was palpable, and filled with many exclamations of “wow, you’re so much taller than I expected!” So far, we’ve already had one cohort-wide gathering, and we look forward to many more to come. We are planning many Covid-safe outdoor activities for the students throughout the summer, including walks on Belle Isle, bike rides to Clark Park, attending Detroit is Different’s A Lot of Studio events on Thursdays, and much more. If you are hosting an outdoor event that our students would be welcome to attend, please let us know by emailing [email protected]!
