U-M President, Mark Schlissel, announced on March 30th that all instruction for the upcoming spring and summer terms would be taught “remotely and in alternate formats”. As a result, after careful consideration, the SiD faculty team made the hard decision to cancel Semester in Detroit for this spring semester. While we are unable to run the residential and internship components of our program, we have decided to reconfigure three of our SiD classes to an online format - each of which will focus on various Detroit community responses to the Covid-19 pandemic. As of this writing, we are moving forward with plans to run the Semester in Detroit program fully and in earnest during the fall 2020 semester - please stay tuned to this newsletter for more information and updates.
