About
Chris Gale is the Chief Administrator for the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures at the University of Michigan. In this role, he acts as a strategic partner to the Department Chair and has broad responsibility for the department’s budget, finance, human resources, and facilities.
In 2017, Chris served as the chair of the LSA Chief Administrator’s Steering Committee. He has also served on the LSA Academic Affairs Council, the LSA IT Council, the LSA Finance Council, the LSA Immigration Liaisons Council, and the Rackham Administrative Advisory Group. Chris is a graduate of CEW’s Advanced Leadership Program. He is also the recipient of the 2006 MAIS Spirit of Excellence Award and the winner of the 2022 LSA Divisional Chief Administrator Award for the Humanities division.
Chris has a master’s degree in College Student Personnel with a focus on adult learners from Bowling Green State University and a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Kalamazoo College. During his 20+ year career in higher education, he has worked with both undergraduate and graduate students at a variety of institutions in the areas of academic advising, academic services, admissions, and financial aid. Over the past 15 years, Chris has held increasingly complex leadership positions.
