About
Nicholas is a Master of Soical Work candidate in the Interpersonal Pathway in Integrated Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse here at U-M. He is a two-time alum of the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures and successfully defended his PhD dissertation, "Old French Narrative Lays and the Video Games We Play," in July 2023. In this project they examine short narrative texts of the French Ages through the lens of modern video gaming. From feminist & queer game design to digital timespace, this dissertation situates itself uniquely between medieval studies and gaming studies.
In Winter 2024 Nicholas will GSI for FRENCH 242 — Game of Thrones and the Middle ages (Prof. Peggy McCracken). As part of the MSW program, Nicholas will also be starting a psychotherapy internship at a private practice here in Ann Arbor where he'll work with members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and offer trauma-informed, non-pathologizing care through a variety of modalities.
Nicholas is originally from upstate New York but has also lived in Canada, France, and Texas. Let's talk about: Bravo television shows, video games, or a social justice cause that's important to you!
