About
I am a PhD Candidate in Spanish working on Latin American Literary and Cultural Studies. Specifically, I specialize in Cuba and Latinx Studies. My dissertation titled Dissent and Commonality in Cuban and Cuban-American Theater (1970 -2020) investigates the emancipatory dimension of theater and performance through plays staged in Havana, New York, and Miami from the 1970s to the present. My work focuses on alternative ways of being-together that challenge ideas of unity across Cuban and Latinx pan-racial discourses. I work with sound studies, political philosophy, gender Studies and dance studies to address the complexity of the theatrical performances. Other research and teaching interest convey the Hispanic Caribbean, México and Perú.
Regarding teaching, I am focused on simulation-based learning techniques, anti-racist pedagogies, and universal learning design.
