Meet the RC Admissions Assistants

Curious about the RC student experience?

Interested in finding out a bit more about what life is like as a Residential College student? Find out more from the experiences of our RC Admissions Assistants and our RC Ambassadors! RC Admissions Assistants (RC AAs) are an essential part of the RC Admissions Team and may be in touch with you while you explore the RC's options. RC Ambassadors and RC AAs will be on hand during RC Campus Days to give their unique perspectives as current RC-ers.

If you are interested in reaching out to an RC Admissions Assistant and/or an RC Ambassador with questions, reach out to rcadmissions@umich.edu.

Hey everybody! My name is Taranbir Kaur, this is my fourth year working in the office of admissions, and I’m excited to welcome you to the RC! I am a Senior who is currently majoring in Spanish and Social Theory & Practice with a minor in Food. My RC language is Spanish. I love to dance, I’m a part of CSP, SuccessConnects, I was a former Bridge Scholar and a daycare teacher! I also love to travel and got the amazing opportunity to study abroad in South Korea. In the future, I hope to pursue Social Work as my career. I hope I will be able to help you all on your college journey and I can’t wait to meet you!

Hi everyone! My name is PinYi Lee and this is my first year working in the Admissions Office. I’m very much looking forward to being a part of this team and reaching out to prospective RC students like you! I am a sophomore in the RC majoring in Cognitive Science and potentially Social, Theory, and Practice (an RC major!). My RC language is Spanish, and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to pursue a minor. Outside of academics, I’m a board member of the Taiwanese American Student Association (TASA), a tutor for Proyecto Avance, Latino Mentoring Association (PALMA), and an intern at Justice for our Neighbors (JFON)! I’m also in the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) of LSA. I would love to shed some light on all that the RC has to offer so please don’t hesitate to ask any questions :)

Hello! My name is Elizabeth Wolfe (she/her). This is my first year working in the Admissions Office and I'm so excited to help whoever is interested in the Residential College! I am a sophomore majoring in Creative Writing and possibly minoring in Entrepreneurship. My RC language is Spanish. Outside of the RC, I'm an Opinion Advice Columnist for the Michigan Daily, a layout designer for What The F literary magazine, and an LSA scholarship recipient. When I'm not doing schoolwork or extracurriculars, I love hanging out with my friends, going to the Union and trying new cafes in the area. I love being a part of the RC and a UM student, so I can't wait to talk with you and help you find your place here too!

Hi everyone, my name is Jack Thompson. I’m a freshman looking to study Computer Science with a minor in Entrepreneurship (and possibly music), and this is my first year working for the Residential College Admissions Office. Within the RC, I’m studying Japanese and hope to travel to Japan for a year abroad. In my free time, I love playing jazz saxophone, competing in hackathons, and losing sleep over random shenanigans with my RC friends. Last year, I co-founded a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization called StartHuddle (follow us @starthuddle) that assists young entrepreneurs in the Greater Toledo, OH area. Although I’ve only been part of the Residential College for a short time, I’d be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and get to know everyone who is interested in our program!

Hello, my name is Spencer Hsieh and I am a fourth year student in the RC with French as my RC language. I study history with the LSA and Secondary Education in History/Social Sciences with the School of Education. Student orgs are also a big part of my involvement on campus. While I am no longer the lead for Food Forum, I continue to serve as the Co-director of the Joint Crisis Committee at MUNUM and a Competitive Director at Michigan Esports. This will be my third year working at the Admissions Office and I am looking forward to meeting more people as society gradually re-opens and help students on their college journey!

Hi everyone! My name is Alifa Chowdhury and I am a freshman in the RC. I’m taking a non-RC language, Bengali, and plan to major in Public Policy and minor in Asian Studies. Outside the RC, I’m the outreach chair for Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE) a Palestinian rights organization, a board member of the Bangladeshi Student Association (BSA), and an active member of FlipBlue and Students for Whitmer. I’m also a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellow for the 2021-2022 school year. Being a part of the RC is one of my favorite parts of being at UofM and I’d love to answer questions and help you learn more about the RC!
