Meet the RC Admissions Assistants

Curious about the RC student experience?

Interested in finding out a bit more about what life is like as a Residential College student? Find out more from the experiences of our RC Admissions Assistants and our RC Ambassadors! RC Admissions Assistants (RC AAs) are an essential part of the RC Admissions Team and may be in touch with you while you explore the RC's options. RC Ambassadors and RC AAs will be on hand during RC Campus Days to give their unique perspectives as current RC-ers.

If you are interested in reaching out to an RC Admissions Assistant and/or an RC Ambassador with questions, reach out to rcadmissions@umich.edu.

Hello Everyone! My name is Alifa Chowdhury; I’m from Toronto, Ontario. I’m a sophomore majoring in Political Science and minoring in South Asian Studies. Outside of the RC, I am the outreach director for both the Bangladeshi Student Association (BSA) and Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE), a Palestinian solidarity organization. I’m also a part of the fencing club at UM.

This year I am taking advanced Bengali, a non-RC language through LSA and I’m a FLAS fellow for the 2022-23 school year. This is my second year working in the RC admissions office and I am so excited to meet you and answer any questions you may have about the RC!

Hi Friends! I’m Ayo Fadase. I'm from Nigeria by way of Texas. I'm a freshman in the Residential College, planning on majoring in Economics and Public Policy and Minoring in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), and Political Science on a Pre-Law track.

I am currently taking French as my RC language as well as “Living and Telling” as my First year writing seminar.

I am new to the East Quad and the Admissions office and I am very excited! I love getting involved in any way I can and helping plan and organize events. I hope to meet y'all and tell you all about why I not only love the University of Michigan but also the RC!

Hello and welcome! I’m Qiying Feng (she/her). I am a freshman in the RC, planning to triple major in sociology, psychology, and creative writing. I’m taking 2 RC courses this semester, and both of them are amazing! RC has some of the most supportive faculty and staff on campus, so don’t be afraid to reach out if you have any questions!

In my free time, I will work on digital drawing and watching anime. Besides that, I am also a support group leader at CPSA and an outreach producer at the cinnamon cinema. This is my first time working in the RC Admission Office, and I’m looking forward to connecting with everyone who is interested!

Hello and welcome to the RC! My name is Spencer Hsieh (he/him). I am a fifth-year student who just finished my degree in secondary education of social studies with the School of Education and am trying to finish my honors thesis with LSA History. My RC language is French and I used to lead the Food Forum.

Outside of the RC, I am also the vice president of Michigan Esports, the competitive gaming student organization on Campus. This is my fourth year working with RC Admissions. It is super exciting because the RC and East Quad are returning to pre-pandemic levels of fun this year, and I can’t wait to introduce you all to it!

Hi everyone! My name is PinYi Lee (she/they) and this is my second year working in the Admissions Office. I am a junior in the RC with a Cognitive Science major and International Studies minor. I took Spanish in the RC through the Intensive Program and I am leading a Coffee Hour this semester, so I would love to answer any questions about the language program that you might have!

Outside of the RC, I’m a board member of the Taiwanese American Student Association (TASA), a member of Groove (a comedic non-traditional percussion and performance group), and a barista. I would love to shed some light on all that the RC has to offer so please don’t hesitate to ask any questions :)

Hey everyone, I’m Jack Thompson (he/him). I’m a sophomore in the Residential College. I’m majoring in Computer Science and Cognitive Science and minoring in Entrepreneurship and Japanese (which was my RC language).

In my free time, I play sax for the Blue Bop Jazz Orchestra and bass guitar for a couple of other music groups. I’ll also plan on participating in Michigan Club Swimming and optiMize this semester.

This will be my 2nd year working in the RC Admissions Office, and I’m very excited to meet everyone!

Hi everyone! My name is Elizabeth Wolfe (she/her) and I'm a junior in the RC studying Creative Writing with a Minor in Entrepreneurship. My RC language was Spanish and I've also taken many classes in Linguistics and History, specifically the Middle Ages and Early Modern Period.

This is my second year working in the Admissions Office. I love connecting with prospective students and helping them find their place here at UM and in the RC! Outside of the RC, I'm Co-Head of Layout for What The F Magazine and a columnist for Michigan Daily's The Statement. I can't wait to get to you and help however I can!!! :)
