About
Javier Muñoz-Díaz (Ph.D.) is Lecturer I at the Residential College, University of Michigan. His research focuses on Latin American literature and cultural history, emphasizing the Andean and Amazon regions, Indigenous cultures, and LGBTQ+ studies. He is currently working in his first book manuscript titled “Indigenous Authorship: Racialization of Writing and Development of Extractives Economies in the South America.” This manuscript discusses the emergence of Indigenous-inspired authorial figures who deal with the human exploitation and ecological devastation caused by extractive economies during the 20th century. He is also a founding board member and researcher of Observatorio de las Américas (OLA), a non-profit organization and virtual research center dedicated to supporting non-traditional research, educational projects, and community-oriented enterprises.
