Kirschstein Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Award was created "to enable promising predoctoral students with potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientists to obtain mentored research training while conducting dissertation research." Afsara Zaheed won the award based on her project titled "Racial and gender disparities in sleep as modifiable determinants of cognitive aging."
