About
Sydney Carr is a joint Public Policy and Political Science PhD student at the University of Michigan. Prior to coming to Michigan, Sydney earned her B.A. in Political Science and minor in Africana Studies from the University of Connecticut’s Honors Program. Sydney is also the award recipient of the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship, and the American Political Science Association Minority Fellowship. Broadly, her research interests include American public opinion, race and ethnic politics, gender and politics, and voting behavior. Specifically, Sydney is interested in how racial and gender stereotypes affect the electability of women of color candidates in the congressional and presidential electoral context.
