Ken is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan. His specialization is in comparative politics, with a regional focus on Southeast Asia. His current research interests focus on the role of political institutions in economic upgrading and fostering innovation. He is also interested in party systems and partisanship in emerging democracies.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Ken was a researcher at the Thailand Development Research Institute, a public policy think tank. He previously attended UC Berkeley, graduating with a B.A. in Political Science. He also writes frequently on Thai politics, having contributed to the Washington Post, Thai Enquirer, and Bangkok Post, among other news outlets.
