Julia Maynard is a doctoral student in the Department of Political Science at the University of Michigan. Her interests are in party politics and voting behavior in Western Europe. She mainly studies the interaction between niche parties and mainstream parties at both the party and voter levels using quantitative data. Past research has looked at how center parties may shift strategies because of the success of populist right parties. She holds her MA from McGill University and a BA from the University of Portland.
