How does it work?
The U-M Department of Physics has its own Giving Blueday webpage that will accept donations from 12:00 am-11:59 PM on Wednesday, March 15th. On that date, simply click the button on the Physics Giving Blueday web page to donate. You may also share the link to donate with others through social media. Your contributions are integral to the continuing success and growth of the U-M Department of Physics. Please support our funds!

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENT SUPPORT FUND
The best way to learn is by doing. Our growing Undergraduate Summer Research programs give students unique opportunities to work in faculty labs, industry internships, and world-renowned international research facilities.

Gifts to the Undergraduate Student Support Fund make these summer research experiences possible. Students who have participated in the past have found the experience invaluable as they prepare for graduate school and careers. Several students have even been hired as longer-term research team members based on their work and experiences in the program.

Your donation will help us create an inclusive educational environment by helping even more undergraduates attain the experiences they need to find successful future opportunities.

Michigan Physics…leading the way in physics education.

PHYSICS STRATEGIC FUND
The Physics Strategic Fund is the most flexible and impactful way to invest in physics faculty and research. Over the years, this fund has been crucial in recruiting the best new faculty to the department, ensuring the success of crucial research projects, and allowing us to meet new challenges.

The fund is primarily used to create recruitment packages, purchase major new equipment, and fund upgrades of research and instructional facilities. As new scientific and educational priorities arise, the Strategic Fund allows the department to invest wherever and whenever it’s needed most.

Here are ways you can make a difference:

  • Make a gift on our Physics page today, and your support will go further! All gifts of $10 or more will be matched 1:1 (up to $3,500) thanks to gifts from Kenneth Riff M.D., Cathy & Bob Anthony, and David & Helene Gidley.

  • Help us climb the LSA Leaderboard! The departments with the most donors earn special incentive dollars.
  • Remember: we are coming together in hopes of winning two hourly challenges at 8:15 pm EST. Give the first gift at that exact time and the Physics Department could win an extra $1,000 toward our fund! Recruit your friends to give, and if we receive the most gifts of any LSA department, we will win an additional $1,000.
  • Spread the word! Forward this email and post on social media using #GivingBlueday and our link: https://myumi.ch/p7Rpg
