About the Saturday Morning Physics Lecture Series
The Saturday Morning Physics (SMP) Lecture Series, initiated in 1995 by the University of Michigan Department of Physics, has provided a unique platform for the general public to engage with the frontiers of modern science. This series is designed to make the latest scientific theories and discoveries accessible to everyone, regardless of their background, through dynamic and engaging presentations. Over the past 29 years, our audience has enjoyed presentations from esteemed national faculty and student experts who reveal the mysteries of their work through interactive and multimedia-rich lectures.

Program Highlights
General Audience-Friendly: The lectures are tailored for general audiences, presenting complex physics concepts in easy-to-understand, non-technical terms.
Multimedia Enrichment: Each lecture utilizes various multimedia tools, including hands-on demonstrations, slides, videos, and computer simulations to illustrate the principles discussed.

In-Person and Virtual Options:
We offer in-person lectures with coffee and donuts to foster a sense of community and engagement. For those who prefer, we also provide virtual livestream lectures, ensuring accessibility for all.
Interactive Q&A Sessions: Each lecture runs from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by a half-hour Q&A session, allowing audience members to interact directly with the experts both in-person and virtually.

Project Goals
Expand Accessibility: By continuing to offer both in-person and virtual options, we aim to reach a wider audience, including those who cannot attend in person.

Feature Leading Scientists: Your support will help us bring in notable scientists worldwide, ensuring that our program remains at the cutting edge of scientific discovery.
Enhance Educational Experience: With your donations, we plan to invest in state-of-the-art multimedia equipment and materials to enrich our audiences' educational experience further.

Community Engagement: We hope to foster a vibrant community of science enthusiasts who can share the excitement of discovery and learning.

Why Your Support Matters
The SMP Lecture Series has a long-standing reputation for excellence in science communication. However, we need your financial support to continue this legacy and expand our impact. Donations support the following:
Guest Speaker Travel Support: Compensating the leading experts and researchers who travel to Ann Arbor to share their knowledge.

Equipment and Materials: Upgrading our multimedia tools to ensure high-quality in-person and online presentations.

Outreach and Promotion: Expanding our reach to ensure more people can benefit from these educational opportunities, including underrepresented groups in STEM fields.

Operational Costs: Covering the logistical expenses of providing both in-person and virtual lectures, from venue costs to live streaming services.

How You Can Help
Monetary Donations: Any amount, big or small, can make a difference. Your financial contributions are vital for the continued success and expansion of the SMP Lecture Series. Please donate here!

Sponsorship Opportunities: We offer various sponsorship tiers with benefits such as recognition in our promotional materials, seat reservations, and meet-and-greet opportunities with our speakers.

Spread the Word: Help us reach more people by sharing our mission with friends, family, and colleagues who might be interested in supporting or attending our lectures.
