Maegan Fairchild specializes in metaphysics and philosophical logic, with further interests in epistemology and aesthetics. Her research explores "extraordinary answers to ordinary questions" about material objects. She is especially interested in varieties of ontological permissivism and the wide range of puzzles they give rise to. More broadly, her work explores how taking weird, radical, or revisionary veiws seriously can cast light on further questions about the aim and value of metaphysics.
Professor Fairchild joined the department in 2018 after completing her PhD at the University of Southern California.
