Humanize the Numbers Lecture and Workshop Series

Theadra Fleming is a retired Registered nurse. The last 14 years of her nursing career were spent working with adolescent teen mothers at a Detroit public school. She has always held a holistic view towards health and healing, realizing that emotional and spiritual health and wellbeing impacts physical health. The process of quilt making has became a conduit to spiritual and emotional healing for her. She pursues her passion through teaching and empowering her students by embracing the inner peace and quiet that comes with creating.

Heather Martin holds a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan. Heather has extensive experience coordinating and managing innovative, collaborative creative arts programming. She has facilitated hundreds of creative arts workshops for youth and adults within and impacted by the justice system. Heather founded Youth Arts Alliance!, a collaborative arts project serving youth in the juvenile justice system. She now works with the Prison Creative Arts Project to coordinate training, workshop programming and events.
