We are proud to announce that Jessica St. George has been named this year’s recipient of the Lansing Leader-Scholar Award. The Andy and Ellyn Lansing Leader-Scholar Award is given to a rising senior who demonstrates academic excellence in the classroom and leadership qualities in the Organizational Studies Program and/or larger University of Michigan community.

A rising senior in OS focusing on educational leadership, Jessica has been very involved in OS from the moment she entered the program. She has attended and participated many events (Info Night, Orientation, faculty interviews), and has been willing to talk with any prospective students interested in the program. Jessica has also accepted the OS leadership role of a Peer Mentor for the 2018-2019 Academic Year.

Jessica is a nontraditional student and single mother who came to U-M in 2016 after working with Michigan State University Extension and completing her Associate of Arts through Delta College. Outside of the classroom, Jessica is involved as a Resident Advisor for Graduate & Family Housing, a Lead Fellow with the Center for Positive Organizations' +Lab, and a fellow with the Barger Leadership Institute. Jessica also acts as a peer mentor for incoming transfer students through the Transfer Connections program, and she is an advocate for parenting student resources and support across the University of Michigan community. Jessica hopes to continue her advocacy work after graduation while pursuing a Masters in Higher Education.

Congratulations Jessica!
