Organizations as A Means of Influence in Social Justice Movements
My pathway encourages me to research the ways in which organizations contribute to or address inequalities experienced by the communities they serve and influence. Particularly, I am intrigued by the ways in which community-based organizations engage with social justice movements. The lens of Organizational Studies will allow me to understand the structural, functional, and social aspects of an organization’s engagement with its community. With a degree in Organizational Studies and minors in French and Law, Justice, and Social Change, I am working to refine my understanding of the sociological function of organizations, particularly in cultures brimming with social justice activism. This degree will be invaluable as I consider my plans beyond college, as I hope to use my newly founded knowledge and expertise to mobilize organizations in a way that combats social inequality.
