PATHWAY
Educational Outreach in Urban Settings Through Non-profits
The inspiration behind my pathway is the appreciation I have for the organizations that filled a gap in my trajectory to higher education that my advisors and family couldn’t. Furthermore, it is the recognition that community-based non-profit organizations play a pivotal role in the nurturing and culmination of future generations of leaders in arts, academics, and life.
My pathway mirrors the intention I have to be involved in that work. Moreover, it reflects my dedication to exploring educational outreach efforts in urban settings directed to underrepresented minority students. I am interested in learning business, economic, psychological, sociological, and relational concepts that facilitate the development of a young person's self-determination, self-efficacy and encourage positive personal outcomes. My aim is to harness the power of community-based non-profit organizations and creative strategy development to address issues of access and inequality in education.
