Building Relationships and Coalitions to Advocate for a More Equitable and Just Society
How would an ideal society be organized, and how do we work together to get there?
I’ve always been fascinated by people and the way our relationships function. Focusing on how people coalesce together to build collective power, I hope to take courses on social movements and social change for my Organizational Studies pathway. Forging connections between different groups and identities can lead to shifts in power balances and structures. Even if goals aren’t identical, they may be compatible enough to help each other.
The inequities in our world call for intersectional and interdisciplinary responses. In addition to social movements, I plan to take courses unpacking our societal problems and how to combat them in both the non-profit and political spheres. In my life, I hope to work collaboratively and creatively to research, advocate and implement more just policies.
