Purpose-Driven Marketing, Creative Strategy, and Effective Communication
The influence of a simple message -- whether that be a Tweet, TikTok, or advertisement– is striking. I’ve witnessed advertising, communication, and media be used to unite and divide, to inspire hope, and generate fear. In this way, the act of communicating in itself is a social responsibility. How can I embrace the responsibility of communication, and use my voice for good? Additionally, how can communication be used to reach an audience, guide behavior, and spark change? In my OS education, I seek to answer these questions, delving into this idea of communication as a propeller of both positive and negative change. I’ll use my deeper and nuanced understanding of these topics in my life and work; one of my professional objectives is to strengthen nonprofits and campaigns through reworking their communications strategy. As a Market Research Analyst for the Michigan Advertising and Marketing club, I’ve relished the process of strategizing how best to reach my client’s goals. OS will allow me to better understand organizational strategy and the components that make for a functional, productive, and equitable organization. I’m excited to guide my education towards developing a deeper understanding of the relationships between creative strategy, communication, and equity.
