Corporate Social Responsibility Through a Business Lens
I am and have always been inspired by companies that use their power and voice to do good in the world. Businesses have the opportunity to make a positive impact not just on their consumers but also on the world at large. There has never been a time where this is more relevant and necessary than now in 2020. Through OS, I am interested in studying the ways in which organizations can implement corporate social responsibility into their business models and use their force for positive change. I am mainly interested in B Certified Corporations and the way in which they balance both profits and creating a positive impact. ‘Big Business’ has gained a negative reputation for taking advantage of their constituents. Not all business has to be focused solely on the bottom line and power as it is today. I hope to change this stereotype of big corporations by incorporating significant changes in the way they are run.
The Organizational Studies program will help me to learn about positive leadership, pro-social behavior, B Certified Corporations and more. The classes offered will allow me to take an economic, psychological, and sociological approach to different situations giving me a very well-rounded idea of the world and help me combine my business acumen with my passion for social change.
