Overcoming Social and Health Disparities Through the Intersectionality of Business and Healthcare
As a pre-med student, I recognize the structural inequity both in the medical field and in education. I will use the Organizational Studies program as a means of both understanding these systemic barriers and conceiving ways to combat them. While I understand that there is a lack of comfort between vulnerable populations and individual, institutional and structural levels of power, I am a strong advocate for equity and diversity and I hope to foster meaningful, inclusive environments that support marginalized individuals. Through an interdisciplinary education, I will gain insight into the psychology of individuals so I can better understand and communicate with people. I will also explore beneficial business practices and analyze how to improve existing systems, to accommodate everyone. The OS program will allow me to use an intersectional approach to bridge my passion for providing health care services while being at the forefront of accessibility for all.
