Creating a Culture of Storytelling by Optimizing Connections Between People, Organizations, and the Societies They Exist In
"Jack of All Trades, Master of None, but better than a Master of One.” The former part of this quote is, of course, a well-known saying, but the latter is the lesser-known conclusion to it that I have taken as encouragement in my life as I pursue varied interests in political activism, positive org scholarship, sociology, psychology, and creative writing. Drawn to Organizational Studies for its flexibility and ability to be self-determined, I plan to embark upon dedicated study of these subjects through it alongside my Psych major and Writing minor. Altogether, I aim to use this knowledge to connect with others and help them connect with each other.
To me, human connection is the most important thing. Break any organization down, break any group down, break anything down and at the foundation of everything is the community of people that make it up. If I can help individuals to better understand themselves and others, they will be able to better understand their place in an organization and society and to communicate their feelings and ideas with each other. With my pathway’s combination of these interests, I intend to be capable of helping any industry create a more satisfied employee, a better workplace, and a better world.
