Hub Internships

As an LSA student, an internship is an opportunity for experiential learning. By immersing yourself in an internship position, you get to learn about potential fields of interests and “try-on” different roles. Ultimately, internships are a gateway to understanding your career possibilities.

We recognize that your internship plans have probably been impacted or that you might still be waiting for updates from your internship hosts. Even with these new realities of COVID-19 and the uncertainty it causes, the opportunity to connect with employers through an internship remains a fundamental experience. Below, you will find some updates that can help you pivot your internship search this summer.

In short, we are here to support you, whether you found your internship through Hub or from another source. Even if you have yet to secure an internship, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us for support.

Updates on 2020 Spring and Summer Internships:

  • In relation to the Hub’s ALA 225 course credit, all internships (whether US or international) can continue to be supported and/or receive credit if they are offered in a remote format (without "in-person contact").  If a student’s internship will remain in-person or have a combination of remote and in-person work, they must complete a few extra steps. Please consult the LSA COVID 2019 Adjustment Policy for Internship Course Credit.

  • The Applebaum Internship Program will not take place this summer, due to the emergence of COVID-19. The Applebaum Foundation will instead redirect this financial support to help address critical community needs as a result of the pandemic.

Please reach out to Kelly Day from the LSA Opportunity Hub at kellyday@umich.edu for more information.
