Analyzing Data in Tokyo

Hannah Dang | Junior | Prospective Economics Major

“I specifically chose to intern in Japan because it’s a nation where the opposing forces of tradition and modernity are evident,” says Hannah Dang. “Those contrasts made it a place where I was able to embrace my multicultural identity.” The economics student spent her summer as a digital marketing intern for Fez, Inc. in Tokyo, where her work involved data analysis, consulting, and market research. The average day was full of new experiences: learning how to prepare reports on consumer behavior, learning Japanese, and learning how to navigate a new country. “One of the biggest things I’ve learned is to be open to every opportunity presented to you because you never know how much you’ll gain from it,” Dang said. She worked with the LSA Opportunity Hub to find resources and participate in pre-departure sessions to prepare for life abroad. The experience helped her realize she wants to pursue a “global path in the realm of finance.”
