Internship: Community Outreach intern at ZeroWaste Detroit
What: Stillman canvases Detroit neighborhoods sharing resources about recycling with the community; she hopes the experience will help inform her future goal to be an urban planner.
As a fellow in the Applebaum Internship Program, Stillman is one of 16 students receiving funding and support as they work in nonprofits and arts organizations in Detroit. “So often in non-profits it’s hard to find funding for an intern,” says Stillman. “The fellowship is really amazing because it gives students an opportunity work in a sector they’re really passionate about.”
“Detroit has shaped what I’ve wanted to do more than the other way around,” Stillman says. “I’m so interested in it and making sure the people who are there now can sustain themselves and have a future in the city.”
