About Darnell Lewis

Darnell Lewis is an accomplished leader in the field of education and social work, currently serving as the Director of the Office of Belonging and Inclusion at California State University, Long Beach. Darnell is a two-time alumnus of the University of Michigan (BA ’09 and MSW ’11) and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Ferris State University.

With extensive experience in diversity and inclusion initiatives, Darnell has successfully led a wide range of student success and retention programs. His previous roles include Assistant Director at Ferris State University’s Office of Multicultural Student Services and School Social Worker in Detroit charter and public schools. Darnell is dedicated to fostering inclusive environments and supporting diverse student populations through mentorship, training, and program development. Outside of work, Darnell enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, attending concerts, and serving his community as a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
