The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship

Overview and Introduction

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports thirty New Americans, immigrants or the children of immigrants, who are pursuing graduate school in the United States. 

Each Fellow receives up to $90,000 in financial support over two years, and they join a lifelong community of New American Fellows. 

National Application Deadline: October 31th, 2024

Eligibility:

  • Degree Level: 30 or younger by the application deadline. Must be starting or continuing an eligible graduate degree program full-time in the United States. Can apply while applying to graduate school or after already enrolled, but you cannot have started a third or subsequent year as of the PD Soros deadline.
  • Academics: No requirement, but strong academic performance recommended.
  • Citizenship: New American Status (See the website for details)

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated creativity, originality and initiative 
  • Demonstrated a commitment to and capacity for accomplishment that has required drive and sustained effort
  • Commitment to the values expressed in the US Constitution and Bill of Rights, including, but not be limited to, support of human rights and the rule of law, opposition to unwarranted encroachment on personal liberty, and advancing the responsibilities of citizenship in a free society.
  • Promise of continued significant contributions
  • Graduate training is relevant to their long-term career goals
