Advisors, Faculty & Staff

U-M's Office of National Scholarships and Fellowships recruits and prepares students for national competitions. In practice, this often means advising students on application essays, helping identify  recommenders, and working extensively to translate their personal hopes and dreams into actionable achievements.

To that end, we welcome all advisors, faculty, staff and community members who work with these outstanding U-M students to take advantage of these resources and continue supporting the exemplary history of U-M scholarship applicants and recipients.

ONSF Handouts

These documents provide a quick introduction to ONSF programs as well as a brief overview of ONSF program deadlines and eligibility guidelines.

Please note applications, deadlines, and eligibility criteria are subject to change as determined by national foundations. Interested applicants should check the ONSF Canvas sites or make an Advising Appointment to be sure of updated criteria.

Supporting ONSF Applicants

Below, Dr. ONSF, Director of ONSF, offers a wide range of resources for recommenders, faculty, and staff including: general guidelines, scholarship-specific advice, information on recognizing and avoiding implicit bias in letters of recommendation, and an overview of FERPA policies.

Check out the Director's Blog for a new series of articles and thought pieces that bring years of ONSF advising experience to light.
