Warren Pan is the 7th student at the University of Michigan to be awarded the prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship.  The Gates Cambridge Scholarship was established in 2000 by a donation from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and provides a full-cost scholarship and living stipend for graduate study (Master’s or Doctorate) in any field of study available at the University of Cambridge.  Scholars are selected for their outstanding intellectual ability, leadership potential, and commitment to improving the lives of others as well as fit for the proposed program of study at Cambridge.  The aim of the Gates Cambridge program is to build a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

Warren is currently a student in the combined MD/PhD program training to become a physician scientist.  While at the University of Cambridge, Warren will continue his work studying various anti-obesity therapies.  In addition to his studies, Warren has also served as the Program Coordinator for U-M’s Munger Program, where he worked with a multidisciplinary team to address issues like health care, homelessness, and sustainability.
