Amalia Gomez-Rexrode is a senior in the LSA Honors Program majoring in Biology.  She received the 2016 Truman Scholarship to support her graduate work pursuing an MD/MPP focusing on health policy and healthcare disparities.  While at U-M Amalia has interned with the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions and the White House Domestic Policy Council through the Michigan in Washington Program.  Amalia has conducted biomedical research with the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Lab and public health field research in Colombia with the Minority Health and Health Disparities International Research Training Program.
