About
Dr. Agosto was an educator in Chicago and the Chicagoland area before attending the University of Wisconsin—Madison where she earned her doctor of philosphy in curriculum and instruction with a minor in social justice education. Her studies in curriculum and instruction complemented her master's degree in curriculum and instruction as her emphasis in sociology, special education, and communications during her undergraduate studies. She currently is an associate professor of curriculum studies in an educational leadership and policy studies program. In addition to adding conceptual and empirical research and scholarship, she focuses on mentoring students and faculty in higher education.
Current Work:
Current research projects underway focus on the use of theatre based games and exercises to foster anti-oppressive dialogue among students, families, and educators/administrators. Additionally, other arts based forms for curriculum leadership development are being explored and piloted. Dr. Agosto have completed recent projects on the use of constructs (intersectionality, disability) and the politics of naming (schools).
