Vincent Lloyd is assistant professor of religion at Syracuse University. His research focuses on the intersection of religion, race, and politics. His books include The Problem with Grace: Reconfiguring Political Theology (Stanford, 2011), Black Natural Law: Beyond Secularism and Multiculturalism (Oxford, forthcoming), and an edited collection, Race and Political Theology (Stanford, 2012). He also co-edits the journal Political Theology.
Current Work:
Dr. Lloyd is currently writing a book titled God the Black Father. It investigates the way divine and human fatherhood slip into each other, focusing particularly on Black diaspora literature. The book includes readings of works by Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, and Octavia Butler.
