About
Timothy R. Bussey, Ph.D. (they/them) is the associate director for the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. Previously, they also served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies at Kenyon College, where they taught the college’s first permanent queer studies course.
While in the department of political science at the University of Connecticut, they completed their dissertation project on the histories of queer and transgender exclusion from the American military and intelligence communities from World War I to present. During their time at the University of Connecticut, they also taught in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, while also serving as the Lecturer for the Rainbow Center.
They have been most recently published by The Conversation, The Associated Press, and BUST Magazine among others.
Current Work:
Currently, Timothy is co-authoring a book chapter on alternative career paths for doctoral recipients, and they are also currently authoring a book proposal on the histories of LGBTQ+ exclusion in the military and intelligence communities.
