Assistant Professor in Latinx History at James Madison University
About
Tiffany J. González grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and in North Richland Hills, Texas. She is an assistant professor in Latinx History at James Madison University. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in History from Texas Tech University, and her Ph.D in history from Texas A&M. Her work has received support from the Texas State Historical Association, the East Texas Historical Association, the Texas Association of Chicanos in Higher Education, and the Portal to Texas History. Her experience as a first-generation college student and the first woman in her family to earn a college degree, has garnered her the skills to mentor and help students reach their educational goals. After graduation, she hopes to work in higher education as a professor and continue to build a bridge for diversity and inclusion through teaching and writing.
Current Work:
Tiffany’s project tells the story of the earliest Chicana/Latina politicians elected to office, the National Women's Political Caucus, and the international feminist movement since in the 1970s. Her work elevates the field of American political history because of its interdisciplinary analysis of the U.S. Latina political movement.
