About
Dr. Tiffany J. Davis is a clinical assistant professor of higher education in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Houston, where she also serves as program director of the higher education master's program. She has taught courses related to administration and finance of student affairs, research and assessment methods, current issues in higher education, postsecondary educational access, and internship experiences in educational leadership. Dr. Davis' current scholarly endeavors focus on the pipeline to and socialization within the higher education profession, Black contingent faculty within the academy, the experiences of Black students in higher education, and student experiences at equity-oriented institutions, namely urban-serving institutions and historically Black colleges and universities. Dr. Davis earned her PhD in counseling and student personnel services and a graduate certificate in interdisciplinary qualitative studies at the University of Georgia, a master's degree in college student personnel and graduate certificate in organization development and change from Bowling Green State University, and a bachelor's degree in human ecology from the University of Tennessee.
Current Work:
Dr. Davis' current project is a collaborative qualitative study utilizing scholarly personal narratives to explore the experiences of Black women who serve as full-time contingent faculty members in higher education and student affairs graduate preparation programs. She is also beginning a new line of inquiry related to equity-oriented institutions with an invited book chapter focusing on understanding urban-serving institutions, including community colleges and minority-serving institutions.
