About
Dr. Shu-Fang Shih has a diversified background in business administration, risk management and insurance, actuarial science, and public health. Prior to joining the University of Michigan in 2018, she was a tenured associate professor at the National Taiwan Normal University. She was a PI or co-PI for more than 20 projects in seven years and received two teaching awards in five years. She served on committees in the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the local governments.
Current Work:
Dr. Shih's recent research has focused on maternal and child health. Her current research focuses on developing multi-level and multi-component programs to improve infant safe sleep practices with community partners in Washtenaw County, Michigan. In addition, she is interested in studying how to align systems so as to improve the preconception health for women at their reproductive age, particularly women of color and women with disabilities. She is also developing a mobile technology to align with the supporting systems to improve preconception health, prenatal care, pregnancy-related outcomes, and newborn health.
